Hi I'm trying to decide whether I want to continue pursuing my economics major or change my major into accounting. I goto a relatively unknown 2nd tier private university so the economics department isn't really well known. My main concern is the difficulty of getting a job as an economics degree after graduation , whereas with an accounting degree, it wouldn't seem too difficult. Also, I don't plan on pursuing a Ph.D in Economics anyway. I really enjoy economics, but I have no idea where that could lead me, whereas accounting seems more practical. Can anybody help me with this decision?

Accounting, take the cpa track and make sure you do you time at a firm to get the public accounting in. Once you get the CPA, you can jump to many fields, including the lucrative investment field to take care of their accounting for investments etc.

yea is that why economics is in the BAD schools and finance is in the BUSINESS(better schools).?
Look at NYU and Stern for example or Carnegie and Tepper.

Chuddup.
Indiana and OSU > Carnegie (finance)
Finance is a major for people who were too scared of doing a degree that actually requires you to think as opposed to only putting numbers in formulas.

Finance doesn't suck, neither does economics. Accounting does however.
PS: finance > economics and rutgers > Indiana and OSU and carnegie > harvard and princeton > rutgers and harvard > princeton and rutgers > my community college and my community college > indiana and OSU and Indiana > OSU and OSU > Mcdonalds.
