At F500s you have multiple c suites that are springboards for the global c suite. Connections matters. High emotional intelligence matters. Delivering results matters. Backstabbing matters. Schools you went to don't matter.
When I was younger and knew I wanted to be ambitious, I used to work late whenever VIPs were in the office from out of town. Because they always worked late, which is what you do when traveling for work. Made great connections and got my name known. It paid off. Now I notice the ambitious youngsters who work late. Sounds easy but not everyone can do it.
