Guy went a decade in a hall of fame revolutionary metal GROUP then went solo and remained relevant as a solo artist/personality making radio hits for the next 15-20 years before becoming a legacy act.
Went from 70s metal to revolutionizing 80s metal, and the "grunge era" didn't really affect his success in the early to mid 90s when the rest of hair metal died out - 90s were arguably his most successful era on a commercial standpoint.
Pretty wild.

Ozzfest is almost completely responsible for keeping metal alive.
That planted the seeds for all the new bands that came to be after 2000.
Ironically, he served the same role in his groups as modern pop stars.
