Nobody had central air back in the day. The hot water system is 50+ years old, then when they added central air sometime in the last 30 years there was no reason to get rid of the furnace |

Not to mention, you'd be buying a brand new furnace and throwing out an operational one.
Also, I feel like hot water heat is superior in many respects to forced air. IMO it heats rooms more evenly and holds temps more consistent than forced air. |
