We either have due process or we dont. Those of us who live here interact with brown people all the time and I think for most of us those interactions are positive. We are also totally reliant on immigrant labor in the US to clean, work in restaurants, etc. These are not jobs that are being stolen from white people.

I know xoxoth has turned into a complete racist chatbort of the worst kind but many posters on here still have some intelligence so it's a little disheartening to see the mental gymnastics many on here do to support the jan 6 insurrection while cheering for ICE taking kids out of immmigration court and separating them from their families and parents.

Also am hearing from shit tons of other lawyers in CA that many of their clients are being swept up in this shit often who are legal US citizens.

And I understand the racist humor and often laugh at it myself but those of us who live here are seeing first hand ICE ripping mothers and children away from their families/communities/etc with no justification or basis and tbh its a little frightening to see this kind of gov't overreach and half the country supporting it...

In a way I want to be sympathetic to what you're saying. I am pretty sure my cleaners and gardener are illegal but I don't ask and they're nice people. I don't like people not following laws. But after so many years of the progressive left opposing every single realistic strong border controls and battling back any kind of meaningful crackdown on illegal migrants and at the same time playing games with the courts to drag out cases after cases through multiple years of appeals and shopping around till you get a sympathetic judge, and getting a judge who creates a legal fiction by upholding the deportation order while blocking you from the one country you can be deported to, which happens to be your home country, I just really don't care any more, nor do I pay attention when people hysterically shriek due process, especially the same people who were so quick to prosecute Trump by effectively rewriting laws to get what they want in the New York cases and then claiming they're upholding the law! It's just a game to them. Due process is the latest excuse to keep playing the game.

maybe you don't think illegal immigration is a big deal. that's fine, there are cogent arguments all the way up to open borders. but the fact is most americans feel differently, as evidenced by trumps win and his #1 campaign issue being illegal immigration.

you are clutching your pearls about partisanship but have nothing to say against the people who are attempting to prevent POTUS from effectuating what americans voted for him to do. before things were so partisan there used to be a spirit of the minority party eeking out compromise from the majority, not completely stopping them. if you truly wanted a less partisan country your position would be "well i disagree with the majority but we live in a democracy and i accept this is what the people want."
