Suicide is no biggie for the person who kills themselves. They were suffering enough that it made sense for them to do it. The way that our society currently frames it, that it's bad because the person no longer gets to experience life, is backwards and wrong
It's bad because of how hard it is for all the people who are still alive who loved and cared about the person. Christians were cr in classifying it as a sin in this way

cr. it is an inherently selfish act. from the time the trigger is pressed until the moment the bullet enters the brain that self behaved without regard for how it would impact others. once in does enter there is no longer a self.
the issue here is that selfish has a negative association. but we all behave selfishly all. a completely selfless person would give all their resources away and die of hunger. every time you eat something instead of giving it to a starving person you've behaved selfishly. you decided to prioritize your own needs above theirs.
so if a person values their non-existence over the happiness their existence provides others, i don't think it's selfish in terms of *unjustly* prioritizing yourself.
