sam altman, in comparison, is actually very intelligent. you can say bad stuff about him too, but he's obviously smart, and you can tell just from listening to him talk for a few minutes. paul graham sounds like an idiot in live interviews and also on twitter. the overwhelmingly likely explanation is that he is in fact an idiot

At this point, though, I couldn't care less. We're both old fucking men and it'd be pathetic to still harbor a grudge. When I was young, I thought he had the capacity to show real leadership and punish some of the toxic people around him; now that I'm older, I realize that he was in over his head—a very human thing.

I have nothing against Karlstack and... Paul Graham is hilarious in so many ways. Y Combinator is a disgusting organization, but honestly I don't know if PG is at fault for what it turned into. Guy was just ascending a local gradient, and the people around him turned it into a tarrasque-sized fecalich.
