Billionaire stranger reportedly leaves Neymar over $1B fortune in inheritance

By Hong Duy September 5, 2025 | 12:03 am PTA Brazilian businessman is said to have left assets worth £846 million ($1.13 billion) to Neymar in his will, despite never having met or related to the 33-year-old football superstar.

According to Brazilian news site RIC, the will was drafted at an office in Porto Alegre and completed notarization on June 12 with two witnesses. The case now awaits approval from a Brazilian court before Neymar officially becomes the heir.

The billionaire, who has no children and lives alone, reportedly decided to leave all his assets to Neymar after being moved by the footballer's strong family ties, particularly the father-son bond, which reminded the man of his relationship with his late father.

Even if the will is legally recognized, this billionaire could face legal challenges. Brazilian civil law follows a "forced heirship" system, under which 50% of a deceased person's estate must go to a spouse or children, while the remaining half can be freely willed to anyone.

If a dispute arises, courts can intervene and adjust the distribution of assets, even when the majority of the estate is left to someone outside the legal inheritance system.

Legal relatives who feel their rights have been violated may trigger complex lawsuits, and wills that appear to violate the forced portion of the law can be partially or fully invalidated by the courts.

Neymar has not given any comment on the will, and his representatives have not received official notice from the court, Telegrafi reported. Given the scale of the assets involved and Brazil's inheritance laws, legal procedures are expected to be carried out to verify the will's validity and protect the rights of any compulsory heirs.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Neymar's current net worth is around $350 million. While at PSG, he earned roughly $78 million per season, plus $20-40 million from bonuses and endorsements. At Al Hilal, the Brazilian striker reportedly earned $163.7 million per season but received only about $115 million in six months after terminating his contract early.

Endorsements from major brands, including Nike (former), Puma, Panasonic, Red Bull and Beats are estimated to bring Neymar $30-40 million annually. He is also said to own high-value real estate, including a Dubai penthouse worth over $50 million, a villa and apartment in Miami, and a private island in Brazil.
