Well I guess I could always go solo or do doc review. But not counting those as options.

I've been unemployed 8 months now. How long before (if not already) I become completely unemployable as an attorney?

If you are a 2009 grad:

Why don't you just go over to the local small law office and ask to do intake a few hours a week to alleviate some boredom. You might get some little courtroom things as a result (which might be a new thing for you), and possibly an entry-level atty job offer too (which you don't have to take, after all), but most importantly, you'll be moving forward and getting some experience rather than just sitting still. Plus, seeing all the hardup cases might help your perspective and lighten your mood some.

Get a job working for a solo and work your way up. I was a solo and I hired an associate for $12.50/hour. Fast forward 6 months and the associate makes $20/hour. I make money off the associate because they bill out at $125/hour.

A) Look at the Feds. They're hiring. You can get a job as a contract specialist even if you can't get a job as a lawyer. The pay is good and it's in a field closely related to law

B) Start doing wills and real estate closings. Don't know how? Pick up the Nolo book on it, bro or work with a shitlaw guy for a year or two like napoleone said.

good fucking luck. they get hundreds of experienced attorney resumes for this shit. not saying he shouldn't apply to them, but don't hold your breath.

they're EXTREMELY short on military civilians and in paramilitary Fed'l agencies. If you have a squeaky clean record (e.g. nothing besides parking/speeding tickets and no arrests or convictions) you'll have a job inside of 6months if you apply to at least 20 agencies or so.

Huge amounts of atty's are instantly disqualified for arrests when they were like 19.

About 10 interviewees/position. About 100 resumes. Not terrible odds, esp if you're military friendly (dem or republican). A lot of lawyers are *HUGZ 4 TERORISM* douchebags, too, and are instantly disqualified.

1) USAJOBS

2) Somewhere in between compliance and a contract attorney. Garden-variety bureacrats, legal services side of things, but not generally attorneys. It'll pay better than anything else you'll find. TBF you probably won't be competitive enough for an att'y job due to all the out of work attorneys. You can probably spin it as a legal job down the road.

Aside from DoJ Honors, the Fed'l Gov't rates you on experience, not where you graduated from.

According to Uncle Sam - Cooley + 3yrs exp > T6 + 0 exp

You probably won't get DoJ Honors. Many DoJ att'y positions are excepted service and are often not even listed.

There are some AUSA positions, but you will likely have to relocate for any that you could actually get. In metro areas, the positions tend to be highly competitve.

Apply anyway. It's free.

don't be too picky with agencies. apply for AUSA and contract specialist positions. along with anything else you're eligible for.

Look at everything GS-9 and up.

Like I said, if you don't hate America, and swallow your pride at working for a less prestigious agency, you can find a pretty decent job.

I got my job off of there, fwiw. So did some other posters. It's legit. A lot of aspie america-hating poasters like to complain when they don't find a job after writing their application in crayon and denouncing blacks and age of consent laws in their interviews.

Did you upload supporting documentation? Call to confirm receipt? They lose shit all the time at OPM. They're pretty incompetent.

Are you just applying for atty jobs? Or other legal services, too?

Check for jobs in your state and municipal gov't too.

Did you apply at multiple grade levels? A lot of times they list at multiple levels but only plan to hire at one of them.

Oh also, FBI is hiring a shitload of people. If you can pass the physical and the polygraph, apply for that. They love lawyers.
