Date: September 2nd, 2010 5:30 PM Author: laughsome market Depends on who you are. Are you a lawyer or 2L looking for a job? Then sure, take the patent bar and see if someone will take you. Are you a pre-law considering law school? Then no, don't go to law school in hopes of IP.
Summary: no, you won't be guaranteed a job in IP with this. You would be much stronger for lit and BA/BS isn't enough for pros in Chem or Bio. Don't know if MS is enough, maybe someone else can comment. From ads I saw they seem to really want PhDs but I'm not a chem/bio guy, I'm a CS guy so I can only go by what I've seen in passing. |

Might be enough for patent lit, which is super competitive right now, everyone with or without a sci. back is currently claiming that s/he is motivated to do IP. |

but its saturated as fuck, and yes, these days Ph.D. is required for bio and chem.
masters in those subjects aren't offered at most schools unless you start a Ph.D. and quit. |

I agree that patent prosecution in chemistry/biology is out of the question without a PhD. But you'd probably have a decent boost for patent litigation, provided you do research and can convince interviewers that you actually know something about it. |
