To get an interview, you bid them highly on your list. All T14 schools (I believe) use a lottery system where your credentials don't matter at all with respect to getting a job.

To get a callback and/or offer, think better than top 5% of the class at almost any of those schools. At some (NYU springs to mind) W&C doesn't even really hire. At others (H, V, Y, G) it will be slightly easier because they expect to recruit several students.

It's a small (relatively speaking) law firm with a very small summer class and an unfathomably large number of interested students.

At UVA they only hired one last year (with a 3.9 GPA). This year they've called back at least three, and I suspect they are all above a 3.85 or 3.9. So basically at UVA you need to be one of the top ten students ITE.

21 is actually a HUGE class for DC last year. Skadden DC had 12-15. Most other DC firms at 10-15.

I've heard that a moot court or mock trial win and litigation work experience summer - including criminal stuff - can help. D.C. connections probably help, too (e.g. experience as a legislative aide or something).
