Subject: Liberal Jewish Profs and Separation of Church/State

What's the deal with all these liberal, Jewish profs at state law schools canceling class for the Jewish holidays, but are so adamant about separation of church and state -- it's ridiculous. What say you?

they are getting paid by the state taxpayer to cover the required curriculum...i'm assuming they can't cover everything as a result of all the missed classes, since this has been my experience. if the students want to skip, it's fine, but professors are state servants

let's narrow your hypo so that it makes sense and assume we're talking only about profs at state schools.

now let's ask how this triggers the clause "congress shall make no law respecting an establishmet of religion"

then let's think about something called the free exercise clause.

fair enough. but something still doesn't sit right about being lectured on how conservatives intermingle church and state when it comes to national policies, but they don't think twice about "harming" non-religious students who pay taxes to be taught as a result of their personal religious beliefs. that's all i'm saying, but i appreciate your responses

what's the harm, mere inconvenience? you'll still cover the same amount of material in the same hours. they're just adjusting the schedule to accommodate. they wouldn't have to do that if the people setting out the course blocks had put that particular class at a different time.
