they still want to be able to say "its not a real language, its interpreted not compiled, it uses C libraries, its dynamically typed", but they increasingly can't since everyone prefers it now. especially for ML and datascience, AI, and also for engineering other than computer stuff

Python is nice and I like I can just make something work with almost no setup but I hate the forced indent syntaxes

yeah well its dynamically typed and so I think they made a design choice not to auto force arbitrary objects to integers in indexing so you have to opt in explicitly to avoid accidental conversions. I guess too could be because at the C layer integers are required over lossy types like floats and arbitrary numerics. comp sci is just going to get subsumed by information science anyway especially with increasing development of QIS and interdisciplinary crossovers into math and physics.

well you are wrong. you picked terminology that noone uses and so I made a guess at what the hell you were talking about. not reading your mind doesn't equal "doesn't write programs". I was thinking the same thing about you when you used a fake term that noone uses but I was nice about it and made a charitable guess

lol you edited it said forced index before not indent. lol not liking indentation rules in python is the most boilerplate complaint and what I just brought up about typing and data indexing is way more advanced yet I’m the one that doesn’t understand anything?

If you had really written indenting I would have noticed because when I saw you were complaining about syntax that was the first thing that came to mind because everyone complains about it but I rescanned it multiple times because forced indexing was such a strange construction I don’t believe I could have hallucinated it. Also even if you are telling the truth and I hallucinated it, you should have known by what I wrote that I wasn’t talking about indenting and inferred from it what I was actually talking about but it likely was far too advanced for your level so you read it as gibberish

not really, its more that coding/full control over computing became needed by disciplines ABOVE computer science (like math and empirical sciences etc) and those disciplines don't require detailed knowledge of what is going on way below the hood in terms of computer architecture and fine tuned control over every process

yeah the boomer ones cry all the time about how kids these days are only learning high level languages and theyll never learn whats truly happening under the hood etc. the truth is that the high level stuff is just more important and widespread with modern workflows. programming is too big of a part of non-cs workflows now. with scientists, economists, analysts etc all using them. even artists and designers with js. noone cares about nerd computer shit anymore.

they should learn it != they should always use it for everything.

8 year olds should learn their multiplication tables, it doesn't mean calculators are bad.

whatever they still cry about it not realizing how much things have changed. like in their day they didn't even use bash and python in chemistry and physics classes and did statistics class by hand. imagine that? and they don't even realize what a zoomer classroom is like. zoomers are by far the most intelligent generation yet and alpha is even better.
