talk me out of getting a CDL, buying a tractor, and just long haul trucking

i'm actually good at academia, but the pay sucks.
why shouldn't i say fuck it, get a CDL, buy a rig, get an agent, and just do over the road trucking? my wife is fine with it. |

my dad made a ton more money as an owner operator compared to being a company driver. |

He's done very well since then and has 6 guys working for him doing long-haul trucking.
