Portraits, photographs, momentos, I have my great-grandfather's desk in my home office. I know the stories and anecdotes, enough to know what they were like, going back to the early 19th century. I'm aware of their personalities. I see patterns in shared mindsets and attitudes with some of my ancestors. And I see the same traits appearing in my kids.
Genetics is real in more ways than we officially acknowledge. |
