I think they do have some use cases but they are really narrow.
Like if you're a runner and you hate bringing your phone with you.
Or if you're elderly and live alone and are terrified of falling and breaking your hip and dying. However you basically need two watches for this; you have to frequently charge the watches & a large amount of falls happen when getting in and out of bed.
