its talked about a lot, but the death of futurism probably still should be talked about more
I cannot attest for earlier but the 80s (especially) and the 90s were very future-oriented. we were going places! fall of the soviet bloc, computers, neon clothes, movies about computers and robots, lambos, electronic-mails, whiz bang
thinking about what broke this, and maybe it really was the passage of the "2000" number. Like, we hit that big threshold but the dot com burst, ancient desert blood terrorists still did bad shit, the rent was still due, etc.
Maybe 2000 killed our futurism.
