Halo always felt kind of boring imo. never owned it but played couch multiplayer. It was probably no better than Timesplitters or something. Seemed worse than Unreal Tournament. imo when something slowly gets less popular it's proof that it was always mainly just hype. Examples: Halo, Metroid Prime, grunge. On the other hand, stuff like Counter-Strike, Zelda, and non-Gen X music has more staying power. |

So as soon as you start getting good it slots you in with better people. I've scored 2nd in both. But when I realized what was happening I stopped caring.
I never saw the point in the 3D F-Zeroes but ymmv.
Idk COD3 had the same stuff going on, aiming down the sights and stuff. which I don't remember seeing in any game before MGS2. So maybe Kojima deserves credit if anyone. But COD4 was the first one to be popular with Console Scum. |

Meanwhile Halo was popular and like the last hurrah for couch multiplayer. no cheaters h4xing you. no lag. no 12 year olds on opiates yelling nigger. no skill based matchmaking keeping you on the treadmill. just the fun of pwning your Loser friends. so even though it wasn't my thing I still respect it. |

Fact remains that people wouldn't play it irl, they'd do Goldeneye or some other shit. you also had System Link to complete with in the higher income brackets. Dreamcast was also out, PS2 on its way.
