He had also blown off multiple show cause hearings and moved to Florida without informing the court.
My goal was to not get a bench warrant issued for him because he didn't show up to this hearing either. He was removed as conservator as I expected but no further trouble.

When done properly the entire profession is set up to obsess about all of these technicalities. And giving other lawyers in a practice, who may be dumber in general, a chance to participate and bill/justify themselves as a cost center is the preferred mode of practice in any matter where a client actually cares about the outcome. The “best” lawyers are typically just people who are quick witted/quick on their feet and/or generally knowledgeable so that they often provide advice and make suggestions that look smart and hold up in retrospect. Nothing in law school or in your first five years of practice in a big firm formally trains you to do any of that, and at best you get to spend a lot of time around older lawyers who are good at this and pick up on some of their techniques and patterns of thought and speech.
