“If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.”
the guardian then goes on to sum up kirk’s comments as “a 2023 remark from Kirk about how several prominent Black women ‘do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.’”
in turn, attiah’s wikipedia article, referencing the guardian summation, describes kirk as “stating that prominent Black women ‘do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously.’” an odd lack of contextual specificity from the shut-in wikipedia braintrust.
