Date: July 20th, 2025 8:59 AM Author: Magenta Public Bath Well I've never really seen "hype" for one per se but it is a welcome oasis of slushies, exotic beverages, clean restrooms, large tobacco selections, and surprisingly good bbq especially considering the price It's a pure utility venue but they've managed to make something kind of fun, memorably kitschy, and kid-friendly out of a field of commerce that was previously regarded as dingy, gross, and outright dangerous for customers. It's a step forward in a very very American lane of progress and it's also not all that hard to like sincere prole kitsch if your heart works well enough The Buccee beaver is like an Ilya Repin treatment of Mickey Mouse imo |

As art the choice of bronze for the ubiquitous cartoony and affectionately downsy beaver statue is a statement and perhaps a populist one at that Like with the recent Costco guys posting where you had a (ideal) vacillation between sincere and ironic treatment of the matter, what underpins it is generally not feigned, what is feigned is only a small shade in a spectrum of mostly genuine pro-prole sentiment about these sorts of businesses. Maybe the media made around it trends more towards the ironic but in general there's sincere appreciation of what convenience/utility/comfort it adds to customer lives especially vis a vis what came before it One thing about those millennials wearing Bucee t-shirts: you'll notice they're never hard to approach or talk to. Usually very friendly and open people. Bucee the Beaver is anti-elite, Marian-coded, and welcomes all beneath the bronze arch of his prominent beaver tail |
