Sometimes being a high-powered, Big City lawyer has its perks boys.

My wife is from this slow-paced, small town near the Big City. She moved here to pursue a career in graphic design but of course it turned out to just be a MS. degree once she got a taste of the luxury and comfort. She still flirts with being an "artist", but over time she's realized that it's best to take a good thing that's in front of you even if it isn't exactly what she envisioned. I mean, she still gets peeved when I have to take a phone call at dinner, even though I've scolded her many times that it's what I have to do to provide the life *she* wants!

One such situation happened a couple months ago. I proposed to her at The Best Restaurant in the Big City. Of course, she deserves it, and frankly so do I. She had always told me she wanted to get married at a sentimental restaurant in her hometown but the best wine they had was Yellow Tail so that's a non-stater lol. It's my proposal too. After said yes I had to rush away to take an important phone call from my Most Important Client: The Big Bank. I have been trying become their Number One Attorney for a while, and as fortune would have it, they just hired me to foreclose on a property in her Small Town! So, I told her we'd be able to spend the holidays there, something she's been wanting for some time. But, of course, I'm just far too busy and important plus the food and cheer in The Big City are *way* more luxurious than anything her Small Town offers.

Anyway, I started digging into the matter and it turns out that the property is owned by her fucking loser high school boyfriend! It's some stupid Christmas tree farm which apparently has a lot of "sentimental value", and it seems like he's hoping for some Christmas Miracle to happen because that value isn't paying off his past due balance. Especially not with Big Megacorp Forestry is eager to purchase the land and harvest Small Town's Christmas trees. The local hayseeds even think they have magical powers. The Loser Ex BF wants to continues his family's longstanding sustainable forestry. But with Big Bank and Big Megacorp on the other side what chance does he stand? Especially when I'm ready to do whatever it takes, ethical or not, to win.

Heh, I guess her Ex thinks the chiseled frame from years of harvesting trees and his collection of flannel shirts matters. I can't wait to AMOG this fucking loser, embarrass him in front of my fiancé, and prove to him and the whole town that you can't fight money, power, and progress with sentimental holiday good cheer and Small Town values!

Not likely Mister Know-it-all pumo, she's still a virgin and saving it for her wedding night. Admittedly her stupid Ex might have been able to since he was her date to the Small Town's Christmas Ball back in high school, but stood her up for a mysteriously unexplained reason. She hasn't spoken to him since and she cites that moment as the point gave up on romantic fantasies and committed herself to being practical.

is it possible he stood her up because he was in the hospital after saving the son of Big Bank’s CEO from an ice fishing disaster?

...Weird that you would say that because the Big Bank's CEO's son has been in a coma for years because of some sort of mysterious tragedy that occurred on Christmas. The CEO has hated Christmas ever since. The disaster happened around Small Town too. In fact, the reason this is such a huge opportunity for me is because the CEO has had an axe to grind against Christmas and Small Town ever since. That's part of the reason why he's so motivated to get this foreclosure completed by Christmas.

?

It's ironic you said this because the other night my fiancé was crying about whether I had to file an emergency injunction against her BF's Christmas tree farm. Typical womanly bullshit about "blah blah boo hoo why can't you wait until after the season?" Uh, because I don't want him to devalue what will soon by Big Forestry's property! Plus, I don't want to give him an opportunity to earn enough money to pay the note, duh. I literally told her "This isn't like one of your stupid romance movies!"

Fiancé, sorry. I spent all Thanksgiving drafting the pleadings since the Big Bank wants to get the ball moving and have the foreclosure done by Christmas, so I'm a bit burnt out. I'd be winding down with fiancé now but she had Thanksgiving at her parent's. She even told me she ran into her HS ex, which seemed like a desperate attempt to make me jealous. Soon she'll realize that missing a Thanksgiving here or there is worth it when it means I can provide the financial security and Big City lifestyle she needs!

it would be pretty 180 if Hallmark made a movie like this and the reason the Evil Fiancé doesn't appreciate the Magic of Christmas is because he's a FOB Hindu.

It’s called Chirstmas all Lit Up, and features a thrilling courtroom climax where the litigator defeats the backwards sentimental proles and they learn to appreciate the majesty of the law, not just on Christmas, but every day of the year

i foresee you becoming haughtily annoyed with your fiancée during her family’s christmas eve dinner while her adorable and sagacious grandmother (june squibb, perhaps) looks on with growing concern, before eventually sharing with her granddaughter in private a story about how she came to be married to her saint of a grandfather, a man sharing a surprising amount of traits with your fiancée’s ex.

also, for some preposterous reason somehow tied to the town’s folksy charm, the dispositive hearing will be held on christmas day.

These seem pretty far-fetched and something my Pollyanna fiancé would dream up. She recently reconnected with her best friend who also moved with her to the Big City and got her law degree too. She and I actually worked at the same Big Firm but she flamed out and moved back to her podunk Small Town to open, get this, an art studio selling handcrafted Christmas ornaments. She even had the gall to suggest that the burnout could reactivate her license and defend the Ex pro bono! Yeah, OK, so some dumb bitch who flamed out as a midlevel is going to take on me, Megacorp, and Big Bank after gluing shinny beads onto clay balls for the past decade? LMFAO.
