But then I met another Swiss woman whose father was German and she spoke perfect German. So it would be more like if half the people in Haiti spoke French which... It's more like only the educated ruling class there do which is like 5-10%. Probably higher percentage of Swiss speak German. 20-30% speak it well and 70% have some understanding from school. Little different case but I accept the analogy. I'm sure there are like 10% of people in Zurich who don't speak a word of Swiss though and just go on in life like they don't care.
