Rented a car from hertz through Expedia prepaid earlier this year in a shithold country. I arrive jet lagged and the witch at the counter has me sign a contract for rental insurance. I tell her I prepaid and I don’t want insurance and she tells me it’s already included in the price and nothing extra. So I sign.

Now they want $400 extra on a $160 rental. Based on google reviews they do this to everyone.

Anyway, they charged me, I charged it back and claimed fraud (in the indictment). Chase refunded me, they sent me some pissy emails in broken English and I told them to take it up with chase and stop frauding.

Fast forward, I now have an American debt collector hounding me. It doesn’t look like it’s on my credit report yet, so maybe I could just pay it to keep it off, but I’d also like to tell them to get bent.

How do I profit/ not get raped.

In the inducement not indictment. Also I’m gay if that matters.

Just dispute it if it ends up on your credit report. If they sue you then counterclaim fraud

Who cares if it's on your credit report?

There is pretty much no chance they file litigation to collect $400 in the US, even with their fees and interest.

But, do you ever plan to go back to that country? I could see them filing something there and that leading to you getting detained at the airport or something, depending on just how civilized or uncivilized the country is.

I read it could drop my score by up to 100 point which seems like a problem if I want to get a new house in the next 7 years right? Don’t care about the shithold never going back.

XO likes to play tough guy schtick where your credit score doesn’t matter and is some Jewish scam.
