36 years old, single. I want to escape the winters of the east coast. WFH so I can live wherever. I have only two "acquaintances" out there who I barely know, so I expect things to be lonely initially. But as I get older, I can't tolerate cold winters anymore -- I fucking hate being trapped indoors after a shitty day of work. I'll still have the same shitty job in San Diego, but at least I won't ever have to wear a jacket.

They are all good along the coast, even some of the inland spots. If you have $ it's hard to beat Del Mar and La jolla. Encinitas and Leucadia for more more down to earth surf town.

If single, Downtown, OB, PB, MB are all CR if you'd prefer to be south. If north county, Oceanside and Encinitas are prob the cr places for single ppl although Encinitas is a lot of families and expensive. If I didn't care about being close to the beach, downtown SD would be fun.

Ocean Beach is the hippy 60s throwback beach. One way in, one way out. Zero parking.

Mission Beach is the tourist beach.

Pacific Beach is college kids and meatheads. Fun if you love drunk crowds. Absolutely zero parking. I avoided at all costs.

Imperial Beach has Tijuana sewer runoff and smells like shit.

So basically avoid the beaches unless you don't mind insane traffic, parking and crime.

If you want a central location with something to do where parking isn't absolutely insane focus on North Park although that it getting tight.

You can find decent places in Normal Heights and Kensington.

South Park is quiet with families.

Golden Hill is next to South Park and can be sketchy but you might find a diamond in the rough here.

Trying to find an apartment in San Diego is very competitive.

My black wife and I learned to have a pre-printed application already filled out with a recent copy of our credit score.

You have to be one of, if not the first, people to view the apartment and you have to set something up the same day it is listed.

If you like it, give them your application and credit report right there.

If you have a dog, it is way worse.

Best: Del Mar & La Jolla

Also good: Point Loma, Sunset Cliffs, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Coronado maybe idk

Rancho Santa Fe or Elfin Forest if you want more rural & nice nature & wildfire danger. Don't go anywhere east of the 5 otherwise
