structurally it is the same argument they make about everything -- student loans, etc.

'Gov't can't possibly help people pay for X because the corporations/universities/landlords will simply raise prices to account for any Gov't subsidies. Therefore, just cut the subsidies.'

obv, there is another solution that never, ever, ever gets mooted. simply lean hard on the kike Health Insurers and Unis and do not permit them to do this.

in the 'Republican' cosmology, kike greed is such an immutable property of reality that the latter is inconceivable.

so the only solution is punishing the little guy in every scenario.

anyone who doesn't work for a dogshit company is on a self-funded plan so they don't really pay "premiums". getting poors off the rolls and into some garbage free clinic type setup where they belong maybe won't lower provider costs, but it would improve quality of care and ease of access for actual people.

you are an insane person. normal people are on self funded plans and the "premiums" they pay actually just go into a company owned fund to pay provider costs when incurred. getting rid of proles probably would lead to lower provider costs and probably less in the amount that gets taken from your biweekly paycheck that you incorrectly refer to as "premiums".

it's just a sham that unnecessarily raises the overall cost of administration through convoluted transfer payments while doing nothing to address the real issue.

the real issue is that the actuarial cost of insuring sicks and olds is astronomical. capping what insurers can charge them (which means everyone else gets drastically overcharged), and then knocking out some of that overcharge with subsidies is an inelegant solution. the necessity for the extra subsidies is evidence of the failure of the plan.

the better way to do it would be to have the vast majority of people on underwritten policies that are appropriately priced and dictated by competitive market forces, and then deal (or not) with the insurable through something entirely separate at a much smaller scale.

Entirely separately from that, the kike medical cartel needs to be dealt with.

Cons is it true you think eliminating subsidies will force insurers to reduce premiums? Explain your reasoning.

Not in this situation because of the bullshit way Obamacare is written. But it does reduce the windfall to insurers at taxpayers expense and hopefully speeds up the time frame for the whole thing to fall apart and non-Obamacare insurance plans to be readily available again.

Oh that sounds like an amazing solution. Let's go back to the good old days where insurers were allowed to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions and cancel your policy when you got sick. That was so much better than the ACA.

If anything, what Congress should do is bring back the individual mandate with much steeper penalties for those who don't buy insurance. That avoids the "death spiral" we are seeing now where the only people who buy insurance are those with medical issues, which eventually drives up premiums for everyone. In a perfect world, I would blow up our entire insurance market and replace it with something like Wyden-Bennett, but I recognize that's probably a pipe dream. For the time being, enhanced ACA subsidies plus an individual mandate with teeth seems like the least bad option that might be politically achievable.

It's been 30 days and you still seem to thin the question is whether or not the ACA will provide subisidies - which has nothing to do with the shutdown.

How much time do you need for your party to accurately tell you what they're allegedly fighting for?

Subsidies drive up the cost. You'd think everyone would know that given our collective experiences with student loans and college.
