when i was briefly on okcupid like 2-3 years ago i actually had my settings set to bi and got messages from both men and women. though i got plenty of messages from people of both sexes, i didnt end up meeting anyone from the app and delted my profile after a few weeks.
in general i prefer men and ive always been upfront about that. but i do like women too. i just dont randomly hook up with people anymore, period. |

I think the issue with many people on this boart is that you don't regularly interact with people who are open sexually- by that I mean people that prefer not to label themselves or dont fit neatly in the "gay/straight" categories and have had/are open to LGBT experiences. You just know chicks irl that got drunk and fucked a chick in college and now say "TEE HEE IM BI TEE HEE". But in my circle of friends (liberal city and large gay population here) its very common for people to be fluid in terms of who they're open to dating. |

There is a pronounced difference from the army of 'open-minded' women who REFUSE to be classified into a sexual category and actual bi and lesbian women. 98% of the women who aggressively insist they fall into the parameters you describe exclusively date men and end up married to men, end of story. Most women who are truly bi end up frequently dating other women or in long-term relationships with them. If anything, the far more common thing I see among bi women is relationships with women and the odd dick thrown in the mix for purely hook-up circumstances.
I don't doubt that you have munched rug on a couple of occasions and I don't doubt you make a point of letting all your friends know that you find women attractive. You mentioned the real and valid impetus for this: it's the norm and accepted-trending-on-encouraged among the people you like to hang out with. Nothing wrong with that at all but lulz at the facile response that nobody on XO understands because they don't hang out with anybody cool like your group of pasty, underemployed, 30ish 'alternative' EDM doofus friends in a tiny city.
Tell me about when you have had extended, deep relationships with women that occurred on a personal and sexual level that you carried out with the same dedication and lack of reservation that you have with a man.
I get your need to shore up your gay attraction credentials. Just know that a lot of actual gay and bi people are either actively annoyed or sniggering at the shitlib women happily high-fiving over being soooo attracted to women even though you're like 93% straight and being hetero dominates your sexuality. |

I truly think that sexuality is on a scale from 0 to 100 and not a "straight/bi/gay" option. Id consider myself like 85% in favor of men and 15% in favor of women. I am GENUINELY more physically attracted to women than I am men in a lot of cases but I prefer male energy and really like dick, so it makes it hard for me. Two of my friends who know me well think that I am actually gay and just won't admit it. But really its just a matter of me finding women more physically attractive than men but prefer having sex with men.
As for "I dont doubt you make a point of letting all your friends know that you find women attractive"- well, some of them know. The ones that know me well definitely know that. But I don't go around screaming about my sexuality. This is xoxo, after all, and someone created this thread specifically to ask me about my sexual habits. So I was open and honest about them.
And I DO think that probably 80% of the people on xoxo dont really know people like me (in many ways) irl. It's not that I think that I'm special or anything, its just that people tend to hang out with people who are similar to them. And I'm not a lawyer and I'm not upper middle class. I dont move in the same circles as most of the rest of this boart does. There's nothing wrong with that on either side, its just the truth. |

most recently ive developed a crush on a girl who works at a store near where i work. she is COMPLETELY unremarkable in every way- shes maybe an inch shorter than me (im 5 9) and completely plain. looks sorta lesbianish. but there is something about her that i find super attractive. the last time i was in this store she helped me find the item i was looking for and i got all like butterflies in my stomach/crush-feeling physically. this was like two weeks ago. i was thinking about going back into the store and trying to strike up a conversation with her but i think its completely 120 to hit on someone where they work
