They committed themselves to the AM5 platform, which is crippled and has no lanes or memory bandwidth. Faggots on the internet told you "that's great! You'll be able to upgrade your CPU later on!" But the new CPUs all suck ass because they still have to work with that angry crippled little AM5 socket. Intel makes you upgrade your motherboard so you can buy CUDIMMS and free yourself from the DDR5 gook mafia. Buy one good CPU and stick with it for 10 years. With Intel you can do that, just look at all the folks still gaming with their i7-4770s at 4ghz.

Yes AM4 was ok. However LGA 1700 is newer, so it gives you the option of running DDR5 with PCIe 5.0 lanes. 12th gen Intel CPUs have been out since 2022 with no reliability issues, and you can still find some for <$200.

Core Ultra 9s are faring better than the 9950x. Looks like AMD is the one putting out defective CPUs now. Sorry, faggot.

IDC about games and the 9950x isn't a gaming CPU. AMD's scheduler is adding shitloads of latency now too, so enjoy that.

I picked up this dual-channel set for my new build:

https://www.gskill.com/product/165/434/1730699010/F5-8200C4052G24GX2-TZ5CK

excited to see what kind of performance I can squeeze by overclocking the shit out of this new CU-DIMM shit. having its own clock driver seems like a big deal that no one is really talking about.

It's necessary for DDR5. All that speed comes at the cost of high error rates. There was already an error correction chip built into the DDR5 design spec, but those chips can't always keep up with RAM speeds. This fixes that, so now they can ramp up speed w/o sacrificing stability.
