what happened to those original app store games that were 99 cents

there used to be tons of these fun and simple games that you paid 1 dollar for. now everything is in-app purchases, ads, and lootboxes.
it seems like a simple, polished, and fun game could make a lot of $$$ by virtue of being completely unlike any other game in the top 100 list. why is nobody doing this? |
