If this the new disco fires moniker? If so, you really need to get serious about taking care of yourself if you don't want to die of a heart attack at age 50. Because 135 resting HR is already borderline heart attack territory. I'm sure this will be the time you finally listen, but still...

If your resting heart rate is really 135, you need to do something. Stop with all the extended fasting bullshit and just do the simple stuff: eat less and exercise more. I have dropped about 40 pounds in the past year and a half just by reducing portion sizes (particularly desserts) and making sure to exercise every day.

I try to exercise everyday. Get up and go for a 3 mile walk. Go to the grocery store. Cook dinner. Tonight I made a Sunday meaty tomato sauce. I didn’t eat any carbs all day. Resting heart rate down to 104.

no it isn't. Meat and tomato sauce w no sugar added, or fuck even with sugar added is way better than pasta. Pasta is the equivalent of eating Metamucil mixed with sugar.

It doesn't fucking matter anyway. To lose weight, you burn more calories than you consume. That's literally it. You can lose weight eating nothing other than chocolate cake as long as calories burned is greater than calories consumed. Substituting carb calories for protein calories (or whatever fad diet is popular at the moment) will not do shit if the number of calories consumed is the same.

The best way to lose weight is to set a daily calorie target (somewhere in the range of 1200-1600 depending on how fast you want to lose weight) and never go over it. Keep a food journal where you track the calories for everything you eat. If you follow that regime, you will lose weight. It's simple physics. Most people try to cut carbs or fat without reducing calories and/or exercise for 30 minutes and use that as an excuse for a double portion of dessert, so they stay fat.

Yeah, there is no way you burned 1000 calories in 3 miles unless you were stopping every 10 feet to do some kind of high intensity workout. Usually about 100 calories per mile is a good rule of thumb. If you are using some kind of phone app to estimate calories burned, find a new one.

I just got back from a 3.1 mile walk. Burned 809 and I had a short huff and puff around the block earlier for about 0.9 miles and 213 calories. So 1021 burned today with cardio. I did some pushups and I finished off the left over sauce and had a banana. Maybe 500 calories consumed today. Working my way back into fasting for weeks and weeks at a time.

First of all, get a new calorimeter. Even someone as fat as you is very unlikely to burn 800 calories in 3 miles. Second, extreme fasting is a bad idea for various reasons. Set a daily caloric target. Most experts suggest somewhere between 1200 and 1600. Then keep a diary where you carefully keep track of the calories in everything you eat and make sure you don't exceed that limit. The diary is crucial. It's almost impossible to keep track of portion sizes without it. I know, you are famous for always listening to advice you get on xoxo. But it is still worth a try.
