yeah it's like the NBA now in that the NFL regular season games feel totally meaningless and uninteresting. like who cares
i haven't watched an NFL regular season game in years i don't think but i still watch some of the playoff games because they are actually enjoyable

I'm still following the Packers but I have even less of an idea what is going on in the rest of the league than ever
It's nice that the Chiefs are middling but it's not good that the Bills are a game and a half behind the Pats

I haven't watched much NFL in years. Saw a commercial recently about an NFL game in Brazil (or some other South American country.) And I remember hearing they now do a game or two in Germany every year for some reason.
I end up sounding like a communist, but is there really a need to endlessly grow the sport. It's a fucking legalized monopoly with unbelievable cash flow. But I suppose it has to be stretched to its limit until it breaks.
The contracts are also completely out of control now. $50m a year to play QB and it's basically illegal to get tackled anymore.
People always joked that the game was basically just a bunch of standing around and commercials, but it's basically the case now. I keep thinking ratings will take a hit, but people really are cattle.

I think the problem is pretty clearly that they had a great product, and they increased the amount of games to meet that product - but the games aren't good because:
(i) lack of elite QBs. 4 years ago you had Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen, Herbert, Josh Allen, Matt Ryan, Stafford, all playing at an elite level. I don't think any of those QBs are playing better this year
(ii) the "best" team is probably the Eagles, but they're horrific to watch and the tush push is almost as annoying as Kaepernick at this point
(iii) storylines suck. Belichik and Brady are gone. Cowboys are bad. Giants and Jets suck. Chiefs are bad and everyone is annoyed by them. no elite WRs or truly elite RBs
(iv) the new kicking rules suck. game seems too random and comebacks to cheap when the offense gets the ball almost in range of a 60 yard field goal, which any kicker can make
