you see this in writers rooms - 80% of them are made up of obvious DEI hires, and the other 20% is obviously people with connections who may be, but probably aren't due to the rarity of real skill, talented.
I'm most clued into the publishing industry, where a similar thing happened around 25-30 years ago, and now you see what a pipeline issue looks like after it has matured - no ability to sell books outside of political and celebrity memoirs. this has led to a perpetually shrinking workforce, wages that stagnated at mid-2000's level ($45-50k in NYC), and a smaller and smaller number of unit sales and shrinking readership |
