Bernheim - German for "burnhome." Originally named Heim but got sick of the domestic life of tending to children and home repairs and a wife whose paycheck only earned enough to cover childcare, these German men decided to just burn it all down (often with their families inside).

Ziefen - Swiss-German for "to cleanse" or "to clean" this was an occupational name that originally started with street cleaners but later shifted to the professional class, often adopted by lawyers who were known to "clean the mess of others." Ziefens had the highest suicide and obesity rates in Switzerland at the time, and one famous advocate, Karl Ziefen, was famously known to never lose in court but to frequently defecate his pants while in town.

Hochstettler - Swiss-German name meaning "from a high place," Hochstettlers are believed to originally come from high altitude mountain villages, but the name was later adopted by lawyers and Jews that became wealthier as a result of their scholarly pursuits. Ironically, however, the -ler suffix is a dimunitive, so despite having more wealth than nearly everyone else, they constantly felt aggrieved that they did not have enough, and would forego community and family involvement in pursuit of acquiring more money, often lashing out at those beneath them, who they consantly beleived to be richer.
