4 mg of clonazepam per day. Still anxious as fuck and still having panic attacks, so I'm starting an SSRI, Lexapro. Doctor said higher doses are needed for panic attacks. 10 mg to start, then 20 mg in a week, then possibly 30 mg a week after that.

No. Why would I make it up? I'm about to take my nightly dose of clonazepam. The goal is to pass out from the clonazepam before I have a panic attack. They tend to happen at night.

the panic anxiety is a summons from your unconscious mind to accept your homosexuality. this subterranean ego dissonance creates psychic pressure which boils over somatically in the form of paroxysmal adrenaline surges (so called 'panic attacks'). masking this with sedatives and neurochemistry scrambling SSRIs will only lead you further away from a true resolution of your discomfort. you will end up like Jordan Peterson, completely self-alienated, chained to a gurney in a Siberian detox facility.

I've had this for ~15 years now. They put me on SSRIs at the beginning at it didn't do shit. Eventually I got to the point where I got a doctor to prescribe me xanax (1mg/day) that I just don't take unless I'm having a panic attack.

I always keep about 3mg of pills on me in a little case that goes in my wallet. The plus side is that I rarely ever get anxiety attacks anymore, because I know I can "stop" them with the benzos. The downside is that I'm more or less attached to the pills, whether I'm taking them or not.

this is exactly what i did.

ssris are demonic. xanax as needed is cr. they just try not to prescribe it because people like getting xaned out. i rarely ever take mine and when i do i take 0.5mg and another if it doesn't work. that's not enough to make me feel intoxicated but it stops the panic attacks in a flash. it's perfect and i have no desire to start popping pills to get high.

The difference is that a roller coaster can be an enjoyable thrill/excitement, whereas a panic attack is an intense, overwhelming, and irrational sense of fear. Everything around you makes you anxious, you go from being calm to wide awake, you start sweating, etc. There's nothing enjoyable about it. The first few times people experience them, people think they're having a heart attack or some other serious health event. I've had so many that I've learned that they're not dangerous, but they make me feel sick afterwards and leave me with a deep sense of fear.

Approximately one hour in after taking 4 mg of clonazepam, and I'm feeling sleepy and mostly calm. My panic attacks happen at night, but I timed the clonazepam right to prevent one tonight. Apparently people get high off of this? I just feel dull, emotionless, and sleepy. After a certain point I don't remember what I did. Whatever it takes to stop the cycle of panic: irrational fear that persists and grows into a rush of adrenaline that makes me extremely anxious: my breathing constricts and I breathe differently, heart races, sweat, every thing triggering anxiety, feeling trapped, etc. I think I've reached the point where the primary trigger of panic attacks is the fear of having another one after having so many in the last few weeks. I just need a few weeks without a single panic attack to shake off that fear of panic. Benzos are the only way I can break the cycle. The SSRIs might help during daytime anxiety, but I've been on them before, and they did not prevent panic attacks.

The problem is that my panic attacks are triggered by stress, and then they turn into a cycle triggered by fear of having another panic attack. The panic attacks are debilitating and leave me feeling kind of sick and extremely fearful for days. I don't have the capacity to interview for jobs or even apply for them when I'm this deep in the panic cycle.

I did NOT have a panic attack last night. That's two consecutive days of NO PANIC after two consecutive days of panic attacks.

Here's what I do: Take 4 mg of clonazepam at around 7 PM. As I wait for the clonazepam to kick in, I watch or listen to something humorous and light to distract myself. By 8:15 or so, I start getting sleepy and switch to distracting myself with something less stimulating but still light, typically a sports podcast. I'm in bed by 8:30ish, and by then the clonazepam is in full effect: that dull, emotionless, tired, slightly confused, but mostly calm feeling. I slip into bed in a haze and fall asleep by 9 PMish as the sports podcast continues to dull my mind and ends after I fall asleep.

I'm going to slowly adjust the timing of the clonazepam so that I don't fall asleep so early.

Today is day THREE on SSRIs, and I'm starting to feel physical effects: my eyes and ears are less sensitive to stimulation, but baseline anxiety is unaffected so far, which makes sense since it's only day three.

My psychiatrist thinks stress, in particular work stress, are causing the panic attacks. I'm mismanaging stress and/or under too much stress at the moment. I'm intentionally not doing anything stressful this weekend, like applying for jobs, so that I get more rest.

My doctor is saying the exact opposite, actually: he told me to be direct and upfront with my manager that my current role, which I was promoted to not that long ago, is not the best fit, and that I ask to be moved to a different role that doesn't put as much pressure on me. If that doesn't work, find a new job. Or work with a therapist to become better at managing stress. Etc.

He readily admits the pills won't fix the underlying problem, but I need them at the moment to function, otherwise I'll have debilitating panic attacks.

be careful man. Klonopin is really hard to get off of and will make you want to kill yourself just to stop the mental anguish. When you’re going through that part later on remember that it’s only temporary but takes 3-4 months to return back to normal. It will feel like an eternity but it eventually does subside.

Can't say for sure but probably not. The biggest stressor in my life when I poasted this thread was that I thought I was going to lose my job soon because we didn't expect our main client to extend their contract with us. About a week after I last poasted in this thread the client unexpectedly extended their contract for another year. Huge relief came from that. Not enough time for the SSRIs to kick in. Much less stressed and anxious now that my job is mostly secure for another year.
