It's been discussed on this board many a time - Lawyers in Europe have far more chill lifestyles, and are chosen explicitly based on Class. They don't look at GPAs and shit. This goes for college/professions writ large. Losers in "American" can kill themselves and get high GPAs (itself unlikely since professors don't like them and they lack conscientiousness relative to their IQ), and still bomb job interviews. There used to be an incredibly erudite poaster on JDU who had as astonishing GPA/LSAT but who foolishly wore a Black Suit to OCI. Imo, America has always been, as Scarface put it, "one great big pussy waiting to get fucked." Things like slavery and genocide of undesirables play into this. From slavery to the wild west to wonton speculation (one panic after another culminating with the great depression), America has always played host to all manner of madness in the interest of what boils down to making money.
