400k is good, but you'd have to work for much longer. 800k is enough that you could stack like $300k a year if you were somewhat frugal. |

800k after taxes is more like 400-450k. and when ur working those hours u probably need to do shit like order meals, dry cleaning, other expenses to make your life simpler. |

It’s crazy how badly taxes eat into high incomes. I used to think that if I ever made 400-500k, I could just stack cash and retire after like 3-4 years. I make 475 base now and I max out my 401k contributions and save 9k a month in taxable investment accounts/crypto but I have to watch my spending. Thats a lot of money, but at first glance you’d think someone would be able to put away a fortune on that income. |
