I can't explain it. I just feel something uncanny when I see particular images of or think about the 1970s, like I am enmeshed in my parents' experience of that time, which occurred long before I was born.
Not in a frivolous, superficial way.
As a child I had a psychotic, almost clairvoyant sense of empathy, so I think I absorbed all of their sense/emotional information from their youth by osmosis somehow. Just via the odd (pregnant) passing comment, I construed an entire past life.

I know what you mean I get that a lot myself
my parents were very much children of 70's
mid 30's I have hazy very young memories of some hint of what that world was like before the 80's really kicked in, and this was in the Midwest so things moved a little more slowly there
