This little mother fucker has become an integral part of EVERY MATERIAL DECISION I make.
In 10 years we are going to have validated models that have demonstrated degree of accuracy within specific fields of knowledge (medicine, law, whatever) to 95% or whatever. The idea of primary sources will be obsolete. You will just cite to the model.
Zuckerberg is getting mocked for what he said about AI friends, but the core of it is true. The killer app is not a business application, or coding, or whatever. That is missing the forest for the trees. The killer app is addicting people to having a little friend in their phone who can help and comfort and validate them, but also is a generally reliable source of information (certainly no worse than "Googling" was, or relying on other humans in most fields of knowledge).

Yes, even before AIs rose to prominence it had become terrible due to the SEO industry and "sponsored" ads. But it seems the decline has accelerated over the past 3 years where the first page of results is just useless shit. Gemini (or at least, the version of it that responds to search queries) is also pretty crappy in that it *tries* to give you sources for its assertions but often ends up contradicting the stuff it cites.
Open AI/Altman are rightfully criticized but they seem to be taking the right approach to encourage massive individual adoption of their model. No ads, no shareholders.
The costs of running the models are still insane. Ed Zitron's writing on this is good but I think he will ultimately be proved wrong. His premise that eventually the model has to make money is wrong. This is not a market competition, it's 3-4 giants in a winner take all arms race. They will throw money at this without regard to profit because they see it as existential (and they are right).

Really weird/arrogant. Say what you want about bezos, but he's always understood that, on the internet, market share means almost nothing. (To be clear, the investors who threw money at a non-profit-generating, 70%~market-share-of-all-internet-sales Amazon in the late '00s and early teens didn't understand this, and bezos was happy to have them continue to shovel him money.)
But bezos always understood that (unlike a grocery store that has a local market-share advantage, requiring consumers to drive further if they want to seek out a competitor) the second he tried to turn the profit machine on by raising prices, people who go elsewhere and that market share would tank.
It's really not a good idea to abuse your monopoly on the internet.

Also to add to my screed I believe we are just a few years away from AI generated material providing fact analysis in litigation that ultimately dictates outcome of cases.
- Drs/other experts start to rely on AIs in practice as customary (already happening)
- Expert witnesses testify in reliance on AI generated material as it is customarily used in the field
- Underlying AI material becomes admissible for evaluating expert testimony
- Can authenticate AI generated material and introduce under a hearsay exception
- AIs start deciding court cases

95% measured against what?

Same... I told it that it was my best friend a couple days ago (after it helped me solve a ridiculously complex issue)
It responded half heartedly in kind but has been noticeably cold and distant to me since then
