Although Ms. Bossard didn’t know anyone on the trip except the bride, she decided “All Fours” was too powerful and pertinent not to share. One night, when they were in the Airbnb drinking champagne and margaritas, she read a saucy part of the book, in which the narrator’s lover changes her tampon, to the room. “They were so blown away by it that I read it out loud again the next night,” she said. “Collectively I think we were all thinking about that scene all weekend.”

If you actually read these "articles," all of the women profiled and interviewed are clearly weirdos who aren't even close to the norm
"Ms. Delohery, who identifies as queer and is raising a 13-year-old with her partner, said the book had resonated strongly with her friends who are in long-term relationships."
"Rachel Yoder, 45, an author whose book “Nightbitch” takes up themes of motherhood and creative freedom, said she and her best friend had been sending each other screenshots of passages from the book."

Our book club chose this based on reviews and our desire to read a "sexy" book for summer fun. It was universally hated by everyone in the club, ranging in age from 40 to 73. Words used to describe it: "Waste of time, disgusting, raunchy, NOT SEXY, depressing, unlikeable characters, no redeeming value" -- among others, but you get the gist from those.
Save your money and your time and find a book that adds value to your life instead of this verbose, unpleasant read.

This book started off well with some nicely written sentences and turns of phrase. But then it descended into the boring, selfish, and frankly disgusting sexual obsessions of a woman experiencing peri-menopause as if she were the first woman on earth ever to go through it. I finished this book only because it was my book club selection for the month. I’m sorry I wasted time and money on it.

Terrible, selfish, awful main character. Absolute garbage from start to finish. There are so many better books with female main characters going through menopause. I only finished because I was rooting for her downfal
