Scene: A dimly lit interrogation room. A single bulb swings lazily above, casting harsh light on the grotesque figure of Boom (as Joker), seated in his wheelchair. His jagged mechanical appendages are detached, resting against the far wall. Mainlining (as Batman) looms in the shadows behind him. The door creaks open as Mainlining steps in, his movements deliberate and methodical.

Boom (as Joker): blinking in the sudden light, his lips curling into a grin

“Well, well, if it isn’t the man of the hour. Took you long enough. Let’s not waste time—what’s the plan? Slam me into the table? Break a few bones? Very predictable.”

WHAM! Boom’s face smashes into the table. Mainlining lifts him by the collar and slams him back down. Boom groans, blood trickling from his mouth, but his grin remains.

Boom: calmly, almost amused

“Never start with the head. The victim gets all fuzzy. Can’t feel the next—”

CRACK! Mainlining’s fist comes down hard on Boom’s mechanical fingers. Boom winces but remains eerily calm.

Boom: with a mocking laugh

“See?”

The Interrogation

Mainlining (as Batman): his voice low and menacing

“You wanted me. Here I am.”

Boom: leaning back, smirking

“I wanted to see what you’d do. And you didn’t disappoint. Letting those people die, sacrificing your little principles—it’s deliciously cold, even for you.”

Mainlining: leaning in

“Where are they?”

Boom: mocking, his tone sharp

“Oh, the mob wants you gone, sure. They miss the old grind, the way things were. But you and I both know: there’s no going back. You’ve changed everything. Forever.”

Mainlining:

“Then why do you want to kill me?”

Boom starts laughing, softly at first, then louder until it echoes unnervingly around the room.

Boom:

“Kill you? Why would I kill you? What would I do without you? Go back to boring schemes? No, no, no. You... you complete me.”

Mainlining: his tone biting

“You’re nothing but a broken man clinging to chaos.”

Boom: mock pity

“Oh, don’t talk like one of them. You’re not. Even if you want to be. To them, you’re a freak. Just like me. They’ll use you, and when you’re no longer useful? They’ll cast you out. Like garbage.”

The Turning Point

Mainlining grabs Boom by the collar, hoisting him upright. Boom’s laughter falters for a moment, but his smirk returns.

Boom: taunting

“Their code, their morals—it’s a joke. They’re only as good as the world lets them be. When things go bad, they’ll turn on each other. Civilized? Please. I’m not a monster, Mainlining. I’m just ahead of the curve.”

Mainlining: slamming him into the wall

“Where are they?!”

Boom: his voice dripping with mockery

“You have all these rules, thinking they’ll save you. But you’ll break them. Tonight. You’re going to break your one rule.”

Mainlining: growling

“I’m considering it.”

Boom: grinning, his voice singsong

“There are just minutes left, so you better decide. Play my game if you want to save… one of them.”

Mainlining: sharp, his voice trembling with rage

“Them?”

Boom: feigning surprise

“Oh, you didn’t know? Your friend, the district attorney, or his darling bride-to-be. Both of them are waiting. But only one gets to walk away.”

Mainlining throws Boom across the room, slamming him into the two-way glass. The glass spiders but doesn’t break. Boom slides to the floor, laughing through the blood streaming from his mouth.

Boom:

“Oh, look at you go! Does it hurt? Knowing you can’t save them both?”

Mainlining: roaring, grabbing him by the collar

“WHERE ARE THEY?!”

Boom: feeding off the anger, his grin widening

“Killing is making a choice. You choose who lives and who dies. The DA or his bunny?”

Mainlining punches Boom hard across the face, sending blood flying. Boom laughs, unrelenting.

Boom:

“You have nothing. Nothing to threaten me with. Nothing to do with all your strength. But don’t worry, I’ll tell you.”

Mainlining: his voice trembling

“Where are they?!”

Boom: grinning wickedly

“Dent’s at 250 52nd Street. And she’s at Avenue X at Cicero. Tick-tock.”

Mainlining drops Boom and storms out, the door slamming behind him. Boom’s laughter echoes in the silence, a haunting reminder of the choice yet to come.
