And unlike dot coms, AI is quickly affecting hiring decisions and work companies already do.
If you’re on twitter of instagram and you’ve seen the absolute flood of videos made with Sora this week, you know that is going to completely change the advertising and entertainment industries. Can you imagine not having to pay actors for stupid commercials, or video production units that are crazy expensive? You could make a prime time quality tv ad that companies used to spend a million dollars filming for $5k or less, and in minutes rather than weeks.
My employer has teams of people whose job it is to analyze new laws and regulations. That shit can be summarized in seconds now and reviewed by 1-2 people now. And that’s pre-AGI. |

I think the point of the potential implosion is that a bunch of public companies are basically saying "...but with AI!" or are being forecast as key providers to the "...but with AI!" companies. That kind of general positive speculation can only drive appreciation so far before people begin looking around and realizing that not everyone can be winners
This creates the implosion that reorders from general positivity to figuring out who the actual winners and losers are (with many winners temporarily being underpriced while the dust settles) |
