If it goes to auction right away it becomes much more about money management |

under normal rules person A could just buy the property for $100, which involves too much luck. |

Pretty easy to win by giving someone a set in exchange for their Orange, giving another player a set in exchange for their Orange, and then mortgaging your remaining shit so you can immediately put three houses on Orange |

Color monopolies on the more expensive part of the board are vastly overrated by most players. It's difficult to fund them without houses in other parts of the board. You can often trade boardwalk or the green properties away to bad players for monopolies in the less expensive regions that are much easier to build up. Depending on the player, you can also put them up for auction when you land on them and then bid them up so they overpay for properties they won't be able to build up. There are other things you can do that many people won't - mortgage properties you can't practically build on or trade to another player to drain their cash and immediately fund building. Certain things like utilities are overrated as well as should be traded away or put up for auction.
