Date: September 4th, 2025 3:34 PM Author: preventive strike during a biglaw trial, i was almost finished with an examination but the partner was stupidly not prepared for the next one to be called (which was his). I guess he didn’t think there’d be enough time so he just didn’t prep. He called me to the table and told me to run out the clock on the day and we had like 30 minutes left. I told him I didn’t have anything more and he told me “think on your feet!” That was the direction I was given as an associate in a biglaw trial.
I went back up and asked the most irrelevant, inconsequential questions to eat up time. Bunch of (correct) objections, two side bars, judge is getting piased, tell me next question better Be damn good. I return and rest at that Point bc I’d rather just be fired than embarrass myself anymore. There was 10 minutes left but the judge adjourned for the day. |

I think there was some caveat in her proffer agreement that said that her testimony in these trials can be used for impeachment, although it otherwise cannot be used against her. For example, she testified on the stand that she heard about shortporch's murder in the car on the way to the police station, even though the police interview shows her melting down and acting like she was hearing about it for the first time. I thought I had heard somewhere that the state would be able to point out this contradiction if they bring her to trial. I could be wrong, though.
