king felix won at 13-12.

obv relief pitchers have won with worse or losing records, but incredible how far baseball has come that a 10-10 record can win a cy young.

you cant just magically win games as a pitcher when you dont give up any runs to begin with.

poor RC? nobody ITT is shitting on skenes. ITT we all recognize he's on a terrible team

the issue ITT is discussion of a fundamental shift in baseball thinking -- away from wins and losses, and toward advance stats. which is a good thing. a guy with a 10-10 record and a sub-2 ERA would never have won the cy prior to ~15 years ago bc of hur durr writers

See: 2004 NL Cy Young, where Clemens beat Big Unit because Roger was 18-4 while Randy was 16-14. Randy led the league in WAR (8.4 to Roger's 5.4), strike outs, WHIP, ERA+, and had 2.60 ERA to Roger's 2.98.

Randy was 40 years old that year and threw a perfect game.

Ben Sheets actually also had way better stats than Roger but because he played in Milwaukee nobody gave a shit and he only got ONE tiny pink vote

Not sure why that matters but probably given that everyone juiced and he was coming off injuries in 2003 and he was so good as he got old. Argument against him juicing: he has never been accused, his stats can be explained by learning control as he got older/gave up a couple MPH. Conclusion: he's 18000000

It’s an interesting question given he’s never been linked. Guys not linked that obviously doped, like David Ortiz, are heroes in the baseball media because they didn’t dope.

Only 3 players pitched 200+ innings.

In 2019, 15 pitchers did that.
