I think the show is good fantasy but not sure why people think its real.
There are not vast networks of white men with trap houses. There is not an all powerful motorcycle gang with its own bars and special jackets running all the drugs in Philadelphia.
Particularly, if a black FBI agent showed up at a tree trimming company to ask about a missing 6 year old boy in connection with a double murder, they would not joke about her breast size and not offer to help - except one guy who is only interested in money.
I did LOL that the first line of the show mentions both scrapple and water ice, JUST SO YOU KNOW WE ARE IN AUTHENTIC PHILLY VIEWERS! You can tell the writer of the show is a rich kid who grew up in a wealthy suburb on the main line.

re the scrapple/wooder ice thing, my wife turned to me and said "wow, how many philly references are we gonna get out of the gate?" we just saw ep 4 last night and ruffalo is drinking out of a wawa cup.
i had a client in delco for about 10 years and spent a lot of time around there. it's cool seeing all the local references and shit, but the things happening on the show seem completely alien to that area.
still a great show tho.

It was interesting the show turned out to be more of a cop action movie.
I guess its better to have a straightforward, not that interesting ending than a cheap twist that made no sense - which is how most HBO shows end these days.

What was so bad about the GoT finale btw? It closed the loop of a world that never promised justice, only consequence. What Reddit saw as betrayal was simply the fulfillment of fatalism.
The Loser Redditors’ anger, in the end, was not against the writers, but against the void. The realization that the story they worshiped was not designed to validate them, but to expose them: their desire for control, their need for catharsis, their inability to accept a world without it.
Thrones ended the way reality does imho. With disappointment, ambiguity, and the faint smell of ashes. And Reddit has never forgiven it. The same crowd that celebrated Ned Stark’s death as bold storytelling could not handle the death of their own expectations. The irony is almost Shakespearean: they applauded a show that punished hubris, and then proved to be the most hubristic audience imaginable.

This is dumb. The problem with GOT was not the the plot points but the pacing.
We watched 3 hours of the fucking onion knight learning to read, and then in the course of like 40 minutes onscreen Dany falls in love with Jon, fights the knight king, goes berserk at kings landing, and is killed by Jon.
It wasn't that people were mad Dany turned heel, it was that it wasn't earned given the prior pacing of the series.

good to see we are still doing greek drama.
whole story arc is "my brother was killed and I will avenge" + "pursuing vengeance for my brother will destroy me"
and im not being dismissive. really its the only human story and the best human story.
Credit to any storyteller who can tell it again in a fun way. i will listen forever to this story
