So I have abandoned gaming and am working through films. I can watch 1-2 movies per day. Too many games take 40+ hours to clear. I could watch 20 movies in that time and feel a real sense of accomplishment. I watch foreign films at 2x speed since i'm just reading subtitles anyway so I can watch a 2 hour film in an hour. I work in film too so my wife doesnt see it as losery like gaming. Gaming is done here.

example: if i tried to keep up with every assassins creed game and all the other open-world shit, I would want to kill myself. But I played Days Gone last year and had a blast with it. Wouldn't have been fun if I had played other games of that type, but in isolation it's good.
make massive cuts on the backlog by arbitrarily eliminating things that are the Same Game and just pick one, realizing you won't play them all. intersperse with games that can be quite fun even if you only play them an hour here or there, like 2D shooters and beatemups. Contra, Streets of Rage, etc. |
