Roguelikes are great and this genre will remain hard and turgid throughout the coming years Extraction shooters are played out and needlessly bogged down in obtuse and grindy mechanics but have a solid premise that usually slavic developers take in the most retarded directions imaginable. The first Western indie dev to make a Scifi version of one of these is going to make a killing, money will pour in if you add aliens and tiered ammunition types. Mark it 8 Battle Royale games take themselves too seriously and I have yet to find a single one that I enjoy MOBAs are okay for a quick game here and there but have hands down the worst sewerfilth shitcommunities imaginable, like hardcore FPS nerds but without the wit, humor, and relentless personal aggression that make multiplayer in those games so endearing |

They have a wide variety of cars but frankly they all handle the same and really aren't kinetic enough to enjoy unless you're a turbosperg with the VR and IR wheel setup The last ones I enjoyed were probably Cruisin' USA or indie tributes to Outrun type games Now car games in general, stuff like Jalopy, the Long Drive, Trucking Sim 2kwhatever, Roblox "car with friends and guns" games, there's a few others. these are fertile soil and we'll probably see some good stuff come out of that basic idea |

Have you tried Dead Cells? Hollow Knight? Pizza Tower? These games are all very engaging OW stuff has been beaten down into the ground by Ubislop and co and will probably take some time to recover. There's still new ground to break in the genre though |

Good example of a WC3 custom game made into a niche steam game The WC3 map editor was a beast. So many amazing game modes were created on that. I think now they make it so they own all the IP on the remastered map editors they released a few years ago so they don't miss a moneycow like DOTA |

Like, I shouldn't have to spend half the game searching everything in every room so I can craft weapons and armor using some yuge skill tree I need a master's degree to understand.
These Doom games have a lot of the same shit but it's so simplified you barely have to think about it, and it never pulls you away from the action for very long. It's not nonstop action, but it feels like it because you always have your shotgun on hair trigger.
Doom The Dark Ages also has several amazing NEW mechanics no other game has. For one thing there's an auto-sprint function so you never have to press a button to run. You're just running 100% of the time. The other thing it lets you do it vary the game speed. Even the cutscenes and the NPC voiceovers are affected. I was getting pwned until I dialed it down to 90% speed. That's all it took to build it reflexes I needed to take it back up to 100%. Doom Eternal is so fucking fast I can barely play it, but that's still a fuck ton better than playing some game where you have to drive a car to across town just to start the mission.
Lastly, there's no gay endurance bar in Doom, you can just sprint forever, and you can swim forever without surfacing to breathe. It's so nice. Imagine being able to survive in Hell but water kills you |

Goldeneye for N64 had "Objectives" and "stealth mechanics" which was cool and innovative but fundamentally it was about shooting guys and that's OK.
The way that Losers think that anything action-oriented without a story is "mindless" is so annoying btw. Meanwhile they hype up story-driven snooze fests like TLOU. Idk why this happens. It probably takes more brain cells to Memorize what AI will do and not get Lost in western-designed labyrinths than it does to appreciate Losery "stories" imo. This goes for Film as well. There is more to think about in a Film like First Blood than there is in most Losery arthouse drek.
I played the original Doom all the way through for the first time recently. I spent most of my time getting Lost.
I also bought Turok 2 for like $5 and did the same. I got Lost and failed the first level. If you don't collect every single Lost Child, you Fail and can't advance. Westerners are insane. |
