Russia has captured over 99% of Lugansk and over 70% of Donetsk. In Donetsk, after the current cities they're fighting over fall, which is imminent, they only have 2 remaining major targets (Sloviansk and Kramatorsk). Once those are taken Donbass will be fully in Russian hands. Beyond Donbass, the Russians are advancing across the front. There are gains in Kharkov, Sumy, Zaparozhiya, and Kherson.

The roadmap is simple. Keep grinding down the Ukrainian army, keep hitting critical infrastructure. At some point you see a collapse to the Dnepr river. At that point, Russia can pressure Ukraine both around Kiev itself while looking for a place to do a large crossing. In reality, they need Odessa far more than Kiev.
