For every consecutive 24 hours you don't go inside of a building or vehicle, you will get $10,000. [Edit: To be clear, you need to do the days in a row. If you do 48 hours then go inside, you'll get paid for your 48 hours, but you can't start again later.]

A soft-sided tent is fine, so long as it isn't on a concrete pad and doesn't have more serious structural support than a standard camping tent.

The clock starts in 2 hours. It will keep running until you go inside.

Are you in? How long will you last? What's you're strategy?

You'd have to be in CA or another sufficiently temperate state I guess. If you're starting out in Chicago or something then you're kind of fucked.

Any campground would have a water spigot, you could use it to "shower" or at least fill up a bucket. You could even set up a whole other tent you use to bathe (and piss) in using the bucket.

The only problem would be shitting. Assuming a porta-potty counts as a building, I guess you could shit in the middle of the night and then run off and dump it somewhere far enough away from the campground where you wouldn't get in trouble.

Just do it once a week, maybe go hiking a few days now and again, live normally otherwise

The hypo would work better if you had to do it permanently until ending with a "cash out"

Fuck yeah. I’ll go pull all my bike parts and tools out of my garage and run an extension cord out to my yard with a phone charger, laptop charger and maybe a space heater. Then drive to the bike shop and go for a top end bikepacking rig. Anything I don’t finish within 2 hours or need later I can just call in and hand off the bike outside any shop. Then I go start having adventures and replenishing what I need by ordering online or standing outside and paying extra for the inconvenience. This one’s easy.

I think the first couple days would be toughest as I get everything set to escape civilization and stock up/learn what I need and wait on deliveries. But I have some bushes nearby that I could shit in if needed. I guess toss a bunch of TP in the driveway at first as well. But once I’m gone, I think I’ll be good. I’ll have arctic-grade mountaineering gear in pretty short order if I need it and I’ll head south for the winter. I guess I’ll smell sometimes but I’ll be seeking out clean water on a daily basis so I should be able to wash off frequently enough

I was assuming you couldn't just do this at home but it's not in the hypo.

Just live in your backyard and have your wife bring you stuff. Make 3.65M a year. Could even keep doing your WFH job in the tent if you wanted to.

Yeah. That's what I would do. Just live in the back yard. We'd have the mortgage paid off in 6 weeks. Kids' college fully funded after 6 more weeks. 6 more weeks and I could do all the back maintenance and updates I need on my house. Then it's just saving for early retirement.

there's a big chain outdoors shop about 10 minutes from my house. i could get a tent, electric heater, and everything else i would need in two hours

i'd set up the tent in my back yard, set up a heater, computer, etc and never step inside. i'd get wife to bring me things outside. kids would hang with dad in the back yard. in would be difficult to go more than a month though

i do a lot of backpacking so this would be easy to manage. the hsrdest part of the hypo is gathering enough gear in two hours. but that could be accomploshed by just wothdrawing cash, driving to a camping store close to a trailhead, and havong someone buy it for you. i have all that, so id just pack up, take a few grand out, and drive to a decent area that allows backpacking. I could stay there indefinitely.
