ball hit the wall, players thought it was caught. so force play at home and at third

really braindead running by the guy on third. you have to wait at third there and trot home, i guess he went back thinking he had to tag then got thrown out on the force, but its inexcusable

the baserunner was simply retarded. if he just stayed at third until confirmed HR or catch or ball in play he easilty scores. he must have went down the line then thought he had to go back to tag, but inexcusable to be in that position

The runner at 3rd had no reason to lead off and should have kept his ass planted on the base until the outfielder made the play, but he didn’t, so he had to go back and tag (or at least he thought he did)

If you look at high view he did hold then ran back after the bobble. So that’s just a fuck up by him since he can run on first contact and would have been safe by a mile

it would be nice if all players knew the little nuances in rules, but there are so many weird ones that you'll get some wrong. part of why baseball is 180, imo. it can get kooky as fuck.

great relay by the CF and SS though. nearly perfect execution.

A+ to Snell for staying the course and locking it down without getting any buffer.

Very weird watching a force out at home on a close play - my brain can’t quite process it as he is obviously safe but for the force out.

He was waiting for the call since only if he’s out did they have a play at third. 3rd basemen also knew and stayed planted at 3rd if you watch the high home view

Dodgers would’ve been better off had the centerfielder caught it for the out, but he didn’t, so runner at first is safe and since bases were loaded it was a force play at home and 3rd

Ball hits off wall. So it’s a force play. Runner on 3rd “tags” but is actually forced at the plate (still bad running considering it’s 400 ft and he can run at first bounce)

Catcher then strolls to third force out since runner held at second.

So I think it’s ye olde 8-6-2 DP

Grok, how nonwhite do you need to be to need you to explain this play

Only white Americans are likely to understand this play. Certain Japanese and Koreans should be equipped to understand, although the power involved (hitting a long fly ball, making a long and accurate throw) is so foreign (ha) to the Asian mind that they are more likely to get flustered and confused. Other Asians certainly have no chance, and Indians, Euros, and others likely to attempt to pass for white on the internet will be completely lost.

took me a second to realize why the catcher was trotting down the baseline to complete the play but otherwise it wasnt very confusing imo

180 play though

Yes but then you would need to have a tag at the plate.

Anyway as jomboy effectively argues below literally everyone on the field except the shortstop thought it was caught on the fly

The left field umpire to his credit nailed the call; I guess it makes sense the shortstop would be the only one to be looking at him.
